Heckington 10

Heckington 10

Grantham Running Club were well represented at the 10 Mile Road Race held as part of the annual Heckington Show, it is the oldest road race in the Midlands with the first race being held in 1965. The earlier start worked well allowing most of the runners to finish before the temperature rose too high. First home for GRC was Rob Howbrook in 67 minutes and 12 seconds closely followed by Gav Meadows with a well-judged run in 68:55 to set a new PB. Nick Rossington was not far behind in 71:06 followed by Catherine Payne clocking 71:46 and picking up the first prize in her age category. Father and son Tommy and Matthew Williamson were next home with the elder outsprinting his son and clocking 72:22 just ahead of Matthew who was given 72:42. The final GRC runner was Robert McArdle in 80:52.
