Season Finale

On the last weekend of the 2012 /2013 season we have four main races where our runners will be having a final attempt to lower their best times. In Nottingham we have the Robin Hood Marathon where Mark W will be hoping the new course is to his liking, this will be Ironman Mark's first attempt at this distance outside of a tri for several years. Ben Mason, Andrew S and Matt are doing the half here and are all in good shape. At the 40th Berlin Marathon Gordon has the tough task of beating his own time on the same course last year while in Spalding Scott, Penny and Chris A will be tacking the 10k in what could be a strong wind. Ponton Plod 2013

Ponton Plod

Grantham Running Club was well represented at this event and provided both the male and the female winners of this 27+ mile race round the Vale of Belvoir. Paul Rushworth won the men’s race at his third attempt after finishing second in 2010 and picking up an injury that forced him to retire in 2011 and Catherine Payne improved on her only previous attempt in 2012 when she was runner up. Paul’s win was even more impressive as this was his third race in a week which included a 56 mile trail run and a fast road 10k. Also taking part in the longer version of this run were Arthur Short, who finished in a creditable 4^th place, along with Robert McArdle and Ben Mason.

Doing the Shorter version of the Plod which is around 17 miles if you navigate it perfectly, were first timers Gordon Geach and Mark Hillson. Phil Hall opted to walk the course. Doing the Mini-Plod again was Abi Schofield who finished eighth. Full Results;
