Ponton Plod
Grantham Running Club was well represented at this event and provided both the male and the female winners of this 27+ mile race round the Vale of Belvoir. Paul Rushworth won the men’s race at his third attempt after finishing second in 2010 and picking up an injury that forced him to retire in 2011 and Catherine Payne improved on her only previous attempt in 2012 when she was runner up. Paul’s win was even more impressive as this was his third race in a week which included a 56 mile trail run and a fast road 10k. Also taking part in the longer version of this run were Arthur Short, who finished in a creditable 4th place, along with Robert McArdle and Ben Mason.
Doing the Shorter version of the Plod which is around 17 miles if you navigate it perfectly, were first timers Gordon Geach and Mark Hillson. Phil Hall opted to walk the course. Doing the Mini-Plod again was Abi Schofield who finished eighth. Full Results;
