Simon and Kevin |
Kevin Kettle and Simon Smith took part in the Asda
Foundation Derby Half Marathon on Sunday 9th June. The city centre
based race was organised by not-for-profit organisation Run for All having
previously been known as the Ramathon prior to 2018.
Simon commented after the race that the course was
surprisingly hard going - in particular the second half of the race, which mostly
followed the meandering path of the River Derwent back to the finish at Iron
Gate, was hard to sustain a rhythm with numerous twists and turns.
Kevin finished the race in 1:40:54; Simon not far behind in
1:42:22, both a little way off their personal bests for the half marathon.
The race was won by William Strangeway of Lincoln Wellington
AC in 1:08:38 with Lucy Niemz of Notts AC the winning female in 1:20:29 and
Danny Mooney of Team Derby Runner the first non-binary finisher in 1:39:10.
There were 2282 finishers.
