Asda Foundation Derby Half Marathon

Simon and Kevin

Kevin Kettle and Simon Smith took part in the Asda Foundation Derby Half Marathon on Sunday 9th June. The city centre based race was organised by not-for-profit organisation Run for All having previously been known as the Ramathon prior to 2018.
Simon commented after the race that the course was surprisingly hard going - in particular the second half of the race, which mostly followed the meandering path of the River Derwent back to the finish at Iron Gate, was hard to sustain a rhythm with numerous twists and turns.
Kevin finished the race in 1:40:54; Simon not far behind in 1:42:22, both a little way off their personal bests for the half marathon.
The race was won by William Strangeway of Lincoln Wellington AC in 1:08:38 with Lucy Niemz of Notts AC the winning female in 1:20:29 and Danny Mooney of Team Derby Runner the first non-binary finisher in 1:39:10. There were 2282 finishers.
