Ten members of Grantham Running Club participated in the
first race of the 2018 Lincolnshire Cross Country League which kicked off on
Sunday 7th October at Ostler’s Plantation in Woodhall Spa. The
sunny, autumnal weather and the flat, dry, woodland course made it a pleasant introduction
to the cross country season.
For the men’s team Peter Bonner continued his run of fine
form, coming home first GRC in first back in 29th position overall. He was
followed by Paul Davis, who is returning to running after a long layoff with
injury. Samuel Jepson-Rivers, making his debut for the club at cross
country, was next home, closely followed by Nev Chamberlain.
For the ladies, who had two teams entered, the in-form
Caroline Davis was first for Team One, putting in a strong performance to
finish 23rd. Sarah High followed with Justyna Gill completing the team. Team
Two featured three new club members: Sylv Hull, Kate Marshall and Diana
McDonald, all making their debut cross country with GRC. Sylv put in a strong
performance to lead the team home, with Kate next, very closely followed by
Diana and then cross country regular, Magaretta Murray completing the team.
