Grantham Ruining Club green and
black dominated the Friday evening race as an army of 41 took to the streets of
Scredington lured by the opportunity of fast times and all you can eat
post-race cake! The route itself was fairly flat starting and finishing in
Scredington and taking in the village of Burton Pedwardine.
All the
runners were glad of the cooler weather, with the slight breeze conditions were
practically perfect.
The GRC
contingent didn’t disappoint with an incredible 17 personal or season bests.
1st home for GRC continuing his excellent summer was Grant Davies in 6th
position with a time of 37:13 (PB). Next was Matthew Atter in 10th position
with a time of 38:26 (PB) winning him 1st in the male veteran 35 category. Just
under a minute later in 11th place came Richard Payne in a time of 39:19 (PB).
Holly
Durham impressed yet again as she came home as the first lady overall in a time
of 42:15. Hannah San Jose came home in 66th place and winning the ladies
veteran 35 category with a time of 47:34 (PB). Third lady home in 128th
position for GRC was Tracey Smith in a time of 58:51.
An
impressive run from Ben Hodgkin saw him run a season’s best of 39:36, followed
by Dean Riggall 40:38, Peter Bonner 40:47 and returning after some time out
Andy Atter 41:58. Stefan Latter secured a PB of 42:46 and was paced by Scott
Jones coming in at 42:42.
Nick
Rossington finished in 43:28 followed by Stuart Reader 45:30, Kevin Kettle
46:09 and Matt Fryer 46:52. Russell Makysmiv achieved an impressive time of
46:56 after having to take 3 months off due to some health issues. Nev
Chamberlain came in at 48:44.
There
was a season’s best for Martin Carter (49:58) followed by Stuart Baty (50:52)
and Tommy Napier with another season’s best (51:17). Rosalind Sadler (59:14)
finished just before the GRC debutants who broke the hour barrier for the first
time and in recent races have reduced their times not just by seconds but
minutes. Great results for Tracy Webb (59:24)and Kate Marshall (59:27).
Belinder
Baker come home next with a PB (60:13) followed by Brendon Buckley (61:46) and
Nicola Cottam (62:01). Naomi Jepsom-Rivers crossed the line next in 62:25 and a
minute later Simon Hartley (63:40). Next home all achieving pbs where Claire
Fritz (63:50), Edina Burns (64:23), Susan Smith (64:27) and Carrie-Ann Law
(64:36) who crossed the finish line with Vicky Platts (64:36). Claire Fritz
stated she put her pb down to chasing Simon Hartley.
Amanda
Mumby finished in 65:08 and GRC first timer Dona Hall followed in 66:46.
Lucinda Gamble finished in 69:08, Melanie Taylor 71:15 and Vicky Geeson 73:44.
GRC’s final PB of the night went to Kirsty Carter in 82:59 taking an impressive
1 minute and 10 seconds off her Summer Solstice race in June.
