Thoresby 10 and 10K.

A 42:58 time for Gerry

Eleven members of Grantham Running Club took part in the Thoresby 10, held at Thoresby Hall on Sunday 20th October. The picturesque grounds surrounding the Victorian stately home once again played host to a number of multi terrain races, including Canicross and Nordic walking events, over 5K, 10K, or 10 miles.

Ten GRC members took part in the 10K race. First home was Duathlon specialist Gerry Hyde. After a frustrating year, he revelled in enjoying a few weeks of consistent run training and felt confident enough to enter a race. Despite the sometimes squelchy trail course with a bit of up and down, he made short work of the hills and claimed first place in his age group and seventh overall in 42:58. Gerry was followed by: Dale Towning (55:21); Sylv Hull (1:00:03); Howard Rudder (1:07:29); Lisa Williams (1:09:00); Rebecca Angel (1:10:24); Lisa Richardson (1:12:30); Emma Fleet (1:13:32); Samantha French (1:14:14); and Vicky Willan (1:14:45).

Tony Johnson was the only GRC runner in the 10 mile race. He had a fine run to finish eleventh overall and first in his age category, coming home in 1:10:33.

The 10K race was won by Tom Marshall of Newark Triathlon Club in 37:20, with Kelsey Moloney of Heanor Running Club the winning female in 46:49. There were 398 finishers. The ten mile race was won by Kevin Quinn of South London / Cardiac Athletes in 55:35 with Beth Owen the winning female in 1:15:07. There were 280 finishers.
