Nick said "today was a good day! The quicker runners must have stayed at home, as
in my 30th Marathon/ultra of the year, I recorded my first race win!
The marathon was organised by Enigma Running and consisted of 9 and a
half laps of Willen Lake in Milton Keynes. Not as boring as it sounds as
the scenery was quite varied. I took it nice and steady and trotted
round the first few laps – however felt good so sped up for the last 3
laps, finishing in 3 hours 43 mins. I couldn’t work out whether I was
lapping other runners or gaining places – so was very surprised when the
Race Director congratulated me as I finished! Here’s a pic of me
